Mansfield Lake Ridge High School – AVID II (Advancement Via Individual Determination II)

The AVID elective class prepares students in the academic middle for college readiness and success. Students receive instruction in writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading strategies. Student empowerment, leadership, college preparedness, and career knowledge are developed to support post-secondary readiness. This 10th grade class includes tutor-facilitated study groups to support student success in all courses and emphasizes text analysis and preparation for college entrance exams. AVID students must enroll in a Advanced or AP course in addition to the AVID elective class. Students visit a college/university during the school year.
