Students gain depth in the linguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and use simple mechanical responses, demonstrating the ability to manipulate and create in the language. Successful students will exit the course with a Novice-High proficiency level in interpersonal speaking and Novice-Mid in all other modes of communication, aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and the ACTFL proficiency scale.
