Manatee Technical College – Child Care Center Operations

This program focuses on the training needed to serve as a Director in a Child Care Center. The content includes organizational leadership, financial management, legal obligations and responsibilities, educational programming, marketing strategies, assessment, monitoring practices, observations, referrals, and collaboration of programs with families and community resources. Completion earns the DCF Director's Credential. Includes: HEV0160 Child Care Center Director (45 hrs). Total: 45 hours (8 weeks part-time).
Prerequisites: Candidates must possess an active Staff Credential (excluding Employment Recognition Exemption) and an accredited High School Diploma or G.E.D. Required training includes the 30-hour Part I Department of Children and Families (DCF) Introductory Child Care Training and 8 hours of in-service training regarding children with disabilities. Applicants must apply to MTC, complete a To-Do List on the student dashboard, and take a Basic Skills Assessment within 6 weeks of their admit date (unless exempt).
