Manatee Technical College – Building Construction Technologies

This program focuses on both commercial and residential construction techniques; reading plans and specifications; and developing trade skills in carpentry, masonry, electricity, plumbing and air conditioning. It covers residential and commercial construction industries including carpentry, drywall, basic HVAC, plumbing, electrical, concrete, masonry, and windows. Training includes forklift operation and OSHA standards. Students build tiny houses and other structures on-site. Includes: BCV0400 Building Construction Helper, BCV0401 Building Construction Technician 1, BCV0402 Building Construction Technician 2. Total: 1050 hours (10 months).
Prerequisites: Applicants must apply to MTC and complete a To-Do List via the student dashboard. A Basic Skills Assessment must be taken within 6 weeks of the admit date unless exemption criteria have been documented per State Statute.
