Manatee School for the Arts – Modern I–IV

A progressively intense exploration of alignment, acquisition of complex technical skills, collaborative problem solving, dance conditioning, and safe studio practices. Students learn about modern dance in its cultural and historical contexts through research and physical experiences, explore exemplary modern dance founders, works, and artists, employ dance as a healthy life skill, and use modern dance terminology to develop improvisation and choreographic skills. Proper dance attire is required. Students must complete one level before moving to the next.
