Sports Medicine students will study and apply concepts related to anatomy and physiology of the skeletal and muscular systems and kinesiology as they relate to injury prevention, recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation. Students will learn nutrition principles for physically active individuals. Students will be introduced to a variety of professions in the sports medicine field. Students have the opportunity to earn certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED). Students may not take this course in lieu of the grade 9 or grade 10 Health and Physical Education requirements.
