Lyons Middle/Senior High School – Guitar

This is a beginning/intermediate course in traditional guitar technique.  Students will learn varying guitar styles including classical, blues and rock.  They will learn to read and write musical notation, chord symbols and tablature.  Upon completion of this class students will be able to perform three chord blues & rock progressions, simple melodies, finger picking techniques and various chord progressions to popular songs. Students will also learn about the history of guitars and its use in other cultures.  Guitars are not provided; students must provide their own guitar (acoustic is preferred; electric is allowed but only without amplification) unless enrolled in the free & reduced lunch program.
