German II continues to develop students’ ability to communicate using the German language. The course is primarily taught in German to help students continue to improve their listening and reading skills. Students are expected to communicate fully in German as well. Their communication will still consist mainly of familiar words, phrases and simple sentences with simple elaboration and simple supporting statements. Students will be able to express their thoughts and opinions on various topics. Assessments continue to focus on the communicative skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students in Level II are expected to reach a proficiency level of Novice High to Intermediate Low by the end of study. Upon successful completion of this course, students are encouraged to enroll in German III Honors.
