Lincoln High School – AP Drawing A/B
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
This year-long AP Drawing course presents an inquiry-based approach to learning about art and design. Students conduct in-depth and sustained investigation of materials and processes such as any mark-making surface such as analog and digital drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media work, where students focus on the use of mark-making, line, surface, space, light and shade, and composition. This process supports students to become inquisitive and thoughtful artists and designers. During the second semester of the course, students develop a portfolio in preparation for AP College Board submission. This course is recommended but not limited to students looking to apply to art colleges after high school. Students may receive CTE credit after fulfilling all Fine Arts credit requirements. _\*\*Portfolio evidence=A student has evidence of artwork they have created 6-11 finished artwork pieces showing their artistic skill level, understanding of artistic vocabulary (elements and principles of design) and sketchbook/planning evidence- (basically they need to show the amount of work they would develop if they had taken a beginning level art course). They can bring in the physical artwork or digital examples of their artwork if they have in it online and show the portfolio evidence to Mr. Moody or Ms. Baker. During the AP Art class the student needs to be able to have the confidence to create work that have self-directed concepts._ _Students who have questions about which AP Art course to choose should email Ms. Baker [labaker@seattleschools.org](mailto:labaker@seattleschools.org) or stop by room 134 during Wednesday lunch to ask questions.
