This course is the first level of a four-year sequence designed to develop language skills in Mandarin Chinese. We emphasize listening, speaking, reading and writing comprehension. Simple questions, commands and statements are taught. Students will use the English alphabet to write “Pinyin”, which represents Mandarin sounds. They will learn to type “Pinyin” on the keyboard to retrieve the Simplified Chinese Characters from a computer.
