Students examine topics such as immigration, the industrial revolution and the rise of a post-industrial economy, the cycle of expansion and recession/depression in our economy, the American tendency to swing back and forth between liberalism and conservatism, the twists and turns of US foreign policy, and the wars fought by this nation since 1865. All of these developments are explored through four different historical lenses: political, military, economic, and social. The ultimate goal is for students to gain a better understanding of the United States they live in today.
