This course is designed to introduce the art of the actor through performance and to provide the student with an orientation to the theatre arts. Through various processes each student will explore sensory-emotional awareness, pantomime, rhythm and movement, improvisation, story development, dramatization, and play making techniques through the use of textbook and script readings; essay and script writings; design acting and lectures. Students will recognize the time and culture captured in theatrical works, as well as the history of cultures of theatre itself. Students will maintain a portfolio that will include artworks, critical analyses, assessments and evaluations, writings and other works.
