This course is designed to increase academic skills necessary to participate in everyday life with goals for maximum independence. To be functional, these skills must be related to some real activity that the student encounters in daily living. Functional academics skills are learned and applied in a variety of environments. Instruction occurs in both classroom and community settings. Goals include, but not limited to, using recipes, name recognition and writing, story recall, alphabet recognition, time/clock skills, identification and counting money, increasing expressive vocabulary and functional safety skills, accessing a library, computer operation and use, writing letters and numbers, calendar skills, calculator skills, number identification, addition and subtraction, and asking and answering questions and increasing receptive vocabulary. Notes: Grade Range $1 8 +$ /Transition. Pass/No Pass
Prerequisites: Enrolled in the SH-SDC/ Life Skills Program with a current I.E.P.
