This course is designed to develop an awareness and understanding of current geographic, demographic, cultural, social, economic, political, and diplomatic issues and their influence on the major world powers. Attention will be given to historical antecedents and future implications of contemporary issues. This course is the systematic study of man's efforts to satisfy his wants by securing goods and services from the available scarce resources. The high school economics course is an introduction to the essential concepts, principles, values, and methods of economic analysis and their application to the modern world. Emphasis is also given to consumer problems and preparing the individual student to be a knowledgeable and effective consumer.
