This course is the continuation of the material covered in Chinese I. Students will experience further development in their general communication skills of reading, writing, and speaking. Students will be exposed to the most common Chinese characters and phrases and calls upon them to form more complex sentences through conjunctions and comparative sentences. By the conclusion of the course, students are expected to be able to read and write short essays. Chinese culture and history is further explored by focusing on concepts such as the Chinese New Year and examining the relationship between Taiwan and China. The course will also examine China's expanding economic influence throughout the world and its relationship with the United States. Ultimately, students will be expected to be able to advance their knowledge of Chinese society and culture.
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in Chinese IB
