Advanced placement Chinese uses an integrated approach to language learning. Course materials include authentic materials: radio broadcasts, newspaper, websites and literary works. Language and culture are taught simultaneously through the use of these materials. Students will be required to prepare oral presentations, work on individual and group projects, and research a variety of teacher and student selected topics. Class will be conducted entirely in Mandarin Chinese and students are expected to communicate entirely in Mandarin Chinese as well. Students will be given the option to read and write in either simplified or traditional characters.
