This program prepares students with entry-level skills that will enable them to seek employment in institutional, commercial or independently owned food establishments or other food and hospitality industry occupations. Instruction includes topics such as an overview of the restaurant industry; safety and sanitation; reading a recipe; learning a variety of cooking methods and when to use them; and use of commercial food equipment. Upon passing the test, students will receive a food handler’s card valid for Riverside County. Students will also create an e – portfolio documenting the techniques they have learned.
