Leander High School – Team Sport Officiating

In this course, students will apply rules and regulations of selected team sports, developing skills in the area of communication, decision making, and conflict management which are needed to officiate team sport competitions. Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) The JROTC program instills in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. The program promotes patriotism and develops a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline, and leadership. Students will learn about the basic elements of, and need for, national security and the critical role of sea, and air and space power. JROTC is both a curricular and extra-curricular program with many opportunities for students to get involved on any of a number of teams including: armed/unarmed drill, color guard, physical fitness, orienteering, academic, air rifle, rocketry and CyberPatriot. As an elective course, JROTC provides ½ credit for each semester completed. Enrollment in JROTC satisfies the physical education requirement for graduation and may be taken in lieu of PE. Qualified students desiring a military career may earn advanced promotion upon initial enlistment in the service, nomination to a Service Academy, or ROTC scholarship opportunities. Bus transportation for Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) at Leander High School is provided from Cedar Park High School and Glenn High School. Transportation for Vandegrift High School students is arranged with LISD’s transportation department . Bus transportation for Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) at Vista Ridge High School is provided from Rouse High School. Campus College and Career Transition Coordinators work closely with JROTC students and the transportation department to schedule departure and return times. Note: Regular morning bus routes do NOT arrive at campuses prior to morning JROTC shuttle bus departure times.
