The Activities of Daily Living course is based on alternate academic achievement standards that focuses on the skills needed for meaningful participation in adult living, social/recreation/leisure, and community participation domains. Students learn through activity-based sessions including organizing a daily routine and schedule, cooking, safety, chores, duties, responsibilities, budget, time management, first aid, and communication, health care, transportation, telephone skills, and appropriate recreation activities. Students will develop strategies to respond to potential emergencies that may appear in the process of daily living. As the student moves through the levels of instruction, skills build and expand to promote transition to independent living. ● This is a locally developed course and does not meet state credit requirements for graduation. ● This course is not used to determine grade point average (GPA).
