Cosmetology is a planned 1000 clock hour, two-year sequence of classroom and laboratory instruction. Instruction is designed to provide job-specific training for entry-level employment in cosmetology careers. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation processes, shampooing and rinsing hair, application of conditioning creams and color rinses, application of scalp and hair treatments, shaping and thinning hair, hairstyling, permanent waving, hair coloring, manicuring, and facial massage. ● Due to mandatory state clock-hour requirements, students scheduled in the cosmetology class are required to take “0 hour” on the day their class meets. In addition, cosmetology students must continue attending school in the summer to complete mandatory state clock-hour requirements. ● To participate in the cosmetology program, students must follow the sub-campus process for transportation. ● Optional cost for students who choose to purchase their own professional standard equipment kit.
