Recommended Prerequisite(s): Interpersonal Studies, Human Growth and Development The Applied Nutrition and Dietetics course is a lab based course that builds on the fundamental knowledge and skills gained from the Lifetime Nutrition, Wellness & Interpersonal Studies course. It emphasizes professional standards, food safety and sanitation, food preparation techniques, service and management, and in-depth nutritional case studies for individuals and groups. The course also introduces career-focused and real-world topics, such as the nutrition care process, various types of nutrition education and counseling, development of nutrition programs, and industry-related research. Students will explore the requirements for becoming professionals in the nutrition and dietetics field, such as registered dietitians, licensed nutritionists, or clinical dietitians. ● Industry-Based Certification available.
