Leander High School – Influence of the New Testament Bible on American Civilization

Influence of the New Testament (NT) Bible on American Civilization will examine New Testament Bible letters and teachings that have influenced the development of the United States. In the course, students will reflect on their knowledge of American civilization as they read and study from the course text and from their own translation of the NT Bible. Students will analyze literary forms and contents of the Bible so they have a better understanding of its influences on literature, art and culture. Focus will be placed on analytical writing. The course will be taught in an objective, academic manner with the focus on the Bible’s role in American life, language, and culture. The course will neither promote nor disparage religion and will not be taught from a particular sectarian point of view. Instructional materials and lessons that are of a devotional nature will not be used. Investigations in Psychology
