This course is designed to examine earth, the moon, and the planets, the latest advances in space technology, and continuing challenges of space and manned spaceflight. An introduction to astronomy explores the history of astronomy to include prehistoric astronomy. An in-depth study of the solar system, the terrestrial planets, and the outer planets is covered as well. The leadership unit of the course will help students decide which path to take after high school. Information on how to apply to college or to a vocational or technical school is included as well as how to begin the job search for students who decide not to go to college or vocational school. Students are informed about real life issues such as understanding contracts, leases, wills, warranties, legal notices, and personal bills. There is information on preparing a resume and the importance of good interviewing skills. The wellness program focuses on nutrition, exercise and physical activities designed to motivate JROTC cadets to lead active, healthy lifestyles beyond program requirements and into their adult lives. Additionally, wearing of the uniform, Air Force customs and courtesies, and basic drill skills are continued. LHS Air Force Junior ROTC IV
