This course focuses on journalistic writingthrough analysis of newspapers, yearbooks,literary magazines, and broadcast journalismpublications. A concentration on the followingcomponents of journalistic writing is critical:influence, purpose, structure, and diction.Reading, writing, and critical thinking are keycomponents as students explore the power andinfluence of journalism. Students will participatein news gathering, the study of ethics, and theaspects of copy writing, editing, and revising andwill study the ethics of journalism. If apublication is produced, the students will learnthe process of publishing.
