Focuses on drama in practice and aestheticunderstanding as students integrate their knowledgeand skills. They engage in drama processes such asimprovisation, play building, text interpretation,playwriting and dramaturgy. This allows them tocreate original drama and interpret a range of textswritten or devised by others by adapting thetheoretical approaches of drama practitioners likeStanislavski and Brecht. Students' work in thiscourse includes production and design aspectsinvolving directing, scenography, costumes, props,promotional materials, and sound and lighting.Increasingly, students use new technologies, such asdigital sound and multimedia. They present drama tomake meaning for a range of audiences and adapttheir drama to suit different performance settings.The focus in this course is on both individual andensemble performance, as well as the roles of actor,director, scenographer, lighting designer, sounddesigner, costume designer and dramaturge.
