Lake Washington High School – Urban Agriculture

Urban Agriculture introduces students to growing their own food, gardening in urban spaces, indoor plant care, foraging in the Pacific Northwest, working in our school garden, and more. Students will learn about types of urban agriculture, soils for growing, plant anatomy, plant reproduction, environmental needs plants have to thrive, crop production and marketing, community impact such as equitable access to resources, and finally will create an Urban Farm Management Plan to wrap up their semester. Credit received can be Career Technical Education or a Science credit. Students have the choice to be involved in the National FFA Organization – the CTSO for agricultural education at LWHS. This means students have the opportunity to pursue competitive, travel events outside of class such as Ag Issues, Business Management, Communications, Marketing Plan, Vet Science, Food Science, Employment Skills, Public Speaking, Floral Design, and much more!
