Lake Washington High School – Social Justice: Diversity in Action

In this elective course, students will explore and analyze social justice issues and then suggest positive action for social change through a final research presentation. The course is designed to provide a basis to better understand the socio-economic, cultural, and political conditions among key social groups in the U.S. Students will engage in classroom and service activities as they explore the origins of civil rights and social justice, and how grassroots movements van transform communities, cultural norms and global systems. Engaged students will have the opportunity to learn some of the tools needed to become successful changemakers, activist and community organizers.
