This course exposes students to the Latin language and culture, usually through a series of sequential courses. First year courses emphasize basic grammar and syntax, simple vocabulary, and the influence of Latin in current English words. Students will be able to read and write in Latin on a basic level. Students begin their introduction to Latin with fundamental building blocks in four key areas of foreign language study: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. # Latin II
