Prerequisites: Build upon language skills developed in American Sign Language 1, 2 and 3. Continue to develop profi ciency in expressive and receptive signing skills in the range of intermediate mid-high level of profi ciency. Level 4 prepares students to communicate authentically by interpreting (reading/viewing), exchanging (signing and reading), and presenting (signing) information, concepts and ideas on a variety of topics. The course provides in-depth study of the relationship among the practices, products, and perspectives of deaf culture and communities. Students explore careers that use ASL and expand use of vocabulary, idioms and classifi ers. In addition, students will begin practicing interpreting in and out of class and with practice voiced passages.
