Prerequisites: Develop language skills at the Advanced Low–Advanced Mid-level of profi ciency. Learning is organized around contemporary and historical issues and culminates in research-based public products (e.g., scholarly presentations, mini exhibits, podcasts, and purpose-driven skits). Instruction integrates cultural products–practices–perspectives, cross-disciplinary connections, comparisons of language and culture, and community engagement, with varied formative and summative assessments. By year’s end, students synthesize multiple sources, marshal evidence, and communicate across registers with accuracy, complexity, and intercultural competence.
