ElectiveThis class is open to students with no previous musical experience. The purpose of this course is to prepare students for a lifetime of guitar playing and music appreciation. Topics include standard musical notation, knowledge of the fretboard through fifth position, introduction to left- and right-handed techniques, including fingerstyle and pick technique, fundamentals of music, chords, basic song accompaniment, music history, listening, and understanding of guitar terminology.
