Schedule Full Year. The Engineering Design and Problem Solvingcourse is the creative process of solving problems by identifyingneeds and then devising solutions. The solution may be a product,technique, structure, or process depending on the problem.Science aims to understand the natural world, while engineeringseeks to shape this world to meet human needs and wants.Engineering design takes into consideration limiting factors or"design under constraint." Various engineering disciplines addressa broad spectrum of design problems using specific concepts fromthe sciences and mathematics to derive a solution. The designprocess and problem solving are inherent to all engineeringdisciplines. This course may also be used as a third or fourthscience credit under the HB5 graduation requirements for studentswho have entered Grade 9 in the 2014-2015 school year andthereafter.
