James Madison High School – Scientific Researchand Design III

Schedule as a full year.Scientific Research and Design is abroad-based course designed to allow districts and schoolsconsiderable flexibility to develop local curriculum to supplementany program of study or coherent sequence. The course has thecomponents of any rigorous scientific or engineering program ofstudy from the problem identification, investigation design, datacollection, data analysis, formulation, and presentation of theconclusions. All of these components are integrated with thecareer and technical education emphasis of helping students gainentry-level employment in high skill, high wage jobs and/orcontinue their education. Students must meet the 40% laboratoryand fieldwork requirement. Students may repeat this course withdifferent course content for up to three credits. This course mayalso be used as a third or fourth science credit under the HB5graduation requirements for students who have entered Grade 9 inthe 2014-2015 school year and thereafter.
