Focusing on 2-dimensional design, students work with a variety of media such as pencils, charcoals, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics. The course addresses shading, depth, color theory, layout, and painting, and integrates appreciation, criticism, and art history.

Students build on skills, experiences and philosophies learned in Studio 1. Critical and creative thinking are incorporated as a more in-depth problem solving approach through a variety of media. College portfolio preparation, class critiques and art history are emphasized.

Students are challenged to think three-dimensionally. Techniques include additive and subtractive, relief, in the round and kinetic. Materials include clay, paper, plaster, wire, wood, metals, glass, and ceramic.

Students build on skills learned in Sculpture One. Continued exploration of materials such as clay, paper, plaster, wire, wood, and glass. Students begin to develop conceptual ideas and explore areas of personal interest.

Emphasis on independent study with a focus on sculptural movements and their relevance to student work. Students develop concentrations in areas of personal interest and experiment with media.

Design-oriented course focused on comic facial and figure design, story construction, animation, visual narratives, lettering, imagery, and two-dimensional design using traditional media and Adobe Creative Suite.

Introduction to fundamentals of graphic design. Students use drawing skills and computer software like Adobe Illustrator. Addresses layout, color, lettering, illustration and advertising.

Builds on skills from level 1 comic & animation and graphic design. Provides hands-on experience with industry standard software and equipment, covering graphic design, animation, and web design through Adobe Creative Suite.

Introduction to black and white photography, SLR camera operation, darkroom film development/printing, and matting. Introduces digital photography and Adobe Photoshop.

Builds on Photography 1. Introduces classic photographers and genres. Advanced creating through film processing, image manipulation, and thematic work.

Continued exploration of digital and darkroom photography concepts and techniques. Students develop a personal style and build a strong portfolio.

Third-level course expanding previous media experiences. Students synthesize chosen concentrations (studio, digital, or 3D). Emphasis on personal style, art history, and contemporary practices.
