Modern Band is a popular music ensemble open to students who play guitar, bass, piano, drums, strings, woodwinds, brass, or sing. The course focuses on performing rock, pop, country, hip hop, R&B, and Latin music. Students will arrange, compose, improvise, rehearse, and perform music collaboratively in both large and small bands. Modern Band provides opportunities for students to grow as musicians over multiple semesters, with one public performance required each semester outside of class time.
Prerequisites: Students should have one semester of guitar or piano class or similar experience singing or playing an instrument. Consult with the teacher if unsure about readiness.
