These courses provide a more in-depth look into the law and the American legal system. Students are provided a foundation for a concentrated study of the legal, judicial, law enforcement, and corrections systems in the United States. Students will examine civil and criminal laws, court procedures, corrective justice, and conflict resolution. Students will also research current issues within the legal and justice systems and the extent to which law affects our daily lives. Students will be expected to analyze cases, discuss current events, research and analyze articles, participate in mock trials and complete a memorandum of law. Students will also have opportunities to conduct civic-action projects.
