Heritage High School – Child Development

Students will explore knowledge and skills related to parenting, relationships, family dynamics, child growth and development from prenatal through school-age children, equipping students with child development skills. Students use these skills to promote the well-being and healthy development of children and investigate careers related to the care and education of children. Students are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations and other leadership or extracurricular organizations. # Child Guidance – (2 credits) (CTEC) 11th –12th grade Prerequisite: Child Development, Program Qualification Form Required This laboratory course addresses the knowledge and skills related to early childhood growth and guidance equipping students to develop positive relationships with children and effective caregiver skills. Students use these skills to promote the well-being and healthy development of children, strengthen a culturally diverse society, and pursue careers related to the care, guidance, and education of children, including those with special needs. Students are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations and other leadership or extracurricular organizations. Material fees required. A TB test and background check is required. Students must provide their own transportation to and from the off-campus field sites.
