Hayfield Secondary – Information Sys

This course will introduce students to the theory, vocabulary, and concepts behind these and other applications of GIS, while providing students the opportunity to develop basic skills to apply GIS in a variety of contexts. Students will receive instruction in geographic information systems, global positioning systems, remote sensing, digital imaging processing simulator, Geodesy, automated cartography, land surveying, and navigation. Fundamentally, these technologies will enable students to explore and analyze the natural and human-made world, from local to global and beyond. Students will use various tools, processes, and techniques to create, store, access, manipulate, and revise data to solve human challenges. These experiences will employ real-world spatial analysis models and guidelines for integrating, interpreting, analyzing, and synthesizing data.
