Adaptive Physical Education and Therapeutic Recreation is concerned with enabling individuals with physical, emotional, mental, and social disabilities to acquire appropriate leisure lifestyles. Specific recreation/physical activities are needed as a part of the curriculum to improve physical, mental, emotional, or social functioning. Upon satisfactory improvement in functional level skills, an emphasis is placed on leisure education to assist in the development of a variety of leisure attitudes, values, and skills. Accommodations relative to course objectives are made to meet individual student needs as specified by the IEP. This course does not meet graduation requirements for Personal Fitness (PEH 201).
