Hardin Valley Academy – Advanced Placement (AP) Seminar
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
AP Seminar® involves intensive research and synthesis of self-selected topics. Students engage in research to analyze real-world problems and to cultivate the skills needed for successful college writing. Teams of students work to analyze and synthesize their findings and present their research to the class. The students explore scientific, economic, and political topics from a variety of viewpoints and broaden their understanding of global issues. This is a yearlong course due to the volume of work required of students. This course may only be taken during the student’s junior year of high school to be considered English III. Note: Some postsecondary institutions have begun not accepting AP Seminar and AP Research as viable English III and English IV substitutions. The Tennessee SBE still supports these courses as English III and IV course substitutes. Counselors and families should check institutional requirements when planning student courses.
