This beginning college-level course includes an in-depth study of molecular biology, cellular biology, physiology, and genetics. It will also cover microbiology, field biology, and ecology. Emphasis will be placed upon laboratory investigations and preparing students for the IB exam. Students will have an option of completing an individual research project for entry into the Southern Nevada Science Fair in the spring.

This advanced Biology course is an in-depth study of the high-level biology topics required for those IB students who will be taking the high level IB exam. The course includes detailed study of plant and animal anatomy and physiology, genetics, neurobiology and behavior, ecology, and conservation. This course will also explore the IB high-level curriculum extensions and options. Heavy emphasis will be placed on laboratory investigations, research projects, and application of biological concepts. This lab-intensive course will require a substantial amount of independent reading and study. Open to IB students only.

Emphasis is on the study of polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, systems of equations and inequalities, matrix algebra, sequences and series, conic sections, and proof of mathematical conjectures.
