Grant High School – Sports and Entertainment Marketing

This course is designed to teach students to apply marketing concepts as theyrelate to the sports and entertainment field. This growing multi-billion dollar industry has emergedas one of the leading occupational areas of the 21st century. This course will give students anoverview of the industry, information about career opportunities and hands on experienceimplementing marketing concepts and strategies. Students who are interested in studying sports andentertainment marketing in college and pursuing a career in this field are encouraged to take thiscourse. Emphasis is placed on the following principles as they apply to the industry: branding,sponsorship, promotion, licensing and naming rights, on-site merchandising, public relations, safetyand security. The class will utilize guest speakers, field trips and team projects throughout the year.The classis a group-oriented class and requires a student to be an active member in class discussionsand activities.
