Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester

The AP 3D Design course offers the serious art student a rigorous and focused year developing a cohesive 3D portfolio. Students in this college-level art course will explore a variety of advanced concepts in 3D Design. The work may include but is not limited to ceramics, metal work, woowork, mixed media, found object, figurative sculpture, architectural models, fiber arts, fashion design, jewelry, 3D modeling, and body adornment. Students will create a body of artwork that demonstrates an in-depth investigation of a particular visual theme of their choice. This includes sketchbook work that shows evidence of idea development, practice, experimentation, and a series of resolved, finished artworks. Students select the materials of their choice and compose an artist statement explaining their investigation topic and creative process. Portfolios produced in this course will be submitted to the College Board for AP evaluation and potential college credit. This course requires additional independent work time outside of class and it is recommended that students enroll in an additional art class outside of this class to support their work.
