Students may be required to attend participate in rehearsals and performances outside the school day to support, extend and assess learning in the classroom, which leads to a grade. This year-long, highly advanced course, designed for students with substantial experience in solo performance and larger performing ensembles, promotes significant engagement with and appreciation for music through performance of sophisticated wind and percussion literature. Study focuses on mastery of highly advanced music skills, techniques, and processes, as well as creativity through composition and/or arranging and use of current technology to enhance creativity and performance effectiveness. This course also provides significant opportunities for student leadership through peer mentoring, solo work, and participation as a performer or coach in a small or large ensemble.
