Golden Gate High School – BAND 3 \* As Marching Band is a component of the band program, participation in Marching Band is a requirement to be in a high school band program.

Students may be required to attend/ participate in rehearsals and performances outside the school day to support, extend and assess learning in the classroom, which leads to a grade. This year-long, formative class, designed for students ready to build on skills and knowledge previously acquired in a middle or high school instrumental ensemble, promotes the enjoyment and appreciation of music through performance of highquality, intermediate-level wind and percussion literature. Rehearsals focus on development of critical listening/aural skills, individual musicianship, instrumental technique, refinement of ensemble skills, and aesthetic engagement culminating in periodic public performances (some after school hours) which lead to a grade. This course may also require students to obtain a musical instrument (e.g., borrow, rent, purchase) from the school or an outside source.
