Daily math lesson using Achievement First's rigorous college-prep mathematics curriculum. Focused on developing conceptual understanding and practicing mathematical fluency. Students receive two 60-minute math classes per day. The two math classes work in tandem to build on one another day-to-day.

Uses five-step lesson approach to inquiry-based scientific instruction focused on the state's aligned physical, earth, and life science standards. Deep emphasis on critical thinking, reading informational text and argumentative writing.

Daily social studies lesson covering American History, World History, and Geography. Uses Achievement First social studies curriculum supplemented with resources from Giles County, Tennessee's open resource curriculum on Tennessee-specific history and geography. Deep emphasis on critical thinking, reading informational text and argumentative writing.

One-hour daily block focusing on English Language Arts and Math for students needing core subject support. Includes twenty small group reading intervention groups daily, focusing on growing lowest students through targeted phonics and reading comprehension instruction. Fridays designated for intervention and remediation using standards tracker.

Independent reading program provided for students performing at or above grade level during intervention time. All middle school students have an AIR book that they have chosen from the AIR library. Students must pass a minimum of 4 book quizzes on AR to be eligible for promotion.

Small group reading intervention for students below grade level. Students below Lexile 440 experience programmatic approach to build decoding skills and transition to encoding practice with grade level text.
