Instructional time should focus on four critical areas: (1) Participating at a competent level in a variety of lifelong physical activities and understanding the cognitive impact of movement, (2) Applying rules, principles, problem-solving skills and concepts to traditional and nontraditional movement settings, (3) Demonstrating responsible behavior and respect for others as well as collaboration, cooperation, and leadership skills, (4) Understanding the risks and safety factors that may affect participation in physical activity.
