½ credit This course encourages students to develop skills, attitudes, and behaviors that will enable them to make decisions that promote healthful behaviors. Topics included are: Mental and Emotional Health; Substance Abuse Prevention; Family Life and Human Sexuality; Safety and Violence Prevention; Healthy Eating; and Disease Prevention and Control. Skills developed in relation to health enhancing behaviors include analyzing influences, accessing valid and reliable information, interpersonal communication, decision-making, goal setting, self-management, and advocacy. This course does not cover the breadth and depth of the Health I class. This course is designed to facilitate learning outcomes appropriate to the student's instructional needs as documented in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This course DOES NOT meet the state graduation requirements.

Prerequisites: Students who qualify for the Alternate Standards in grades 10, 11, and 12.
