Fulfills Communications Focused Course Graduation Requirement In this course, students will delve into multimedia journalism and graphic design models through a visual lens, exploring the powerful role that images and design play in media. They will engage in photography, create graphic packages and layouts, and investigate color theory and design techniques, all while learning how visuals and infographics influence various forms of media coverage and digital communication. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. They will also practice the visual modes of news coverage across platforms, from print to digital, while examining the legal and ethical considerations that inform media decisions. While students are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras, school-provided cameras will be available for use with a parent-signed equipment liability waiver. This course serves as a prerequisite for both the Pinnacle yearbook staff and the HiLite news staff if not taking the pathway.
