Fivay High School – Leisure and Recreation Skills for Functional Living

The purpose of this course is to provide students who are moderately disabled the opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to participate in leisure, recreational and freetime activities. The major emphasis is to provide the student with the motor, social, academic and communication skills to functionally participate in leisure and recreational activities in the school, home and community. The content shall include, but not be limited to: selection of age and developmentally appropriate activities, application of specific rules, preparation for activities, selection of appropriate attire and maintenance of equipment and materials.
Prerequisites: Identification and placement in an exceptional student education program as prescribed in District Procedures for Providing Special Programs for Exceptional Students
